Class Description

"Chinese Calligraphy as Meditation"
You will learn to create symbols and learn about their deeper meanings.

Picture
Chinese language is one of the oldest and most unique form of communication. The written Chinese language is a symbolic expression through pictures, known as pictographs, which later evolved into ideograms rich in meaning and philosophy. In the thousands of years of Chinese cultural history some changes have taken place; however, the original forms and spiritual meanings of these powerful images have sustained throughout the ages and is a unique calligraphic art form and holistic healing practice.
Learning to create these symbols is not only an aesthetic expression, it is also a way of life. Chinese calligraphy can express beauty, emotion, and primordial life force. Practicing Chinese calligraphy is a meditation for us to harmonize with nature and the Dao.

"Tai Ji/Qi Gong Moving Meditation for Healing"
You will learn Tai Ji/Qi Gong movements, history and background of this ancient practice for enjoyment and good health.

Picture
Since ancient times in Chinese history, The Yellow Emperor taught his people a way of life with emphasis on healthy living and the wisdom in harmonious community living.  The practice of regular exercise in addition to good nutrition was vital to their existence. Dancers in ancient rituals and ceremonies were known to enjoy longevity and became Sages and Wisemen in their tribal communities.
Various forms and schools of Tai Ji/Qi Gong practices are passed down through generations by martial art and holistic healing teachers; however,
the understanding of Qi- breath and life force, that makes the moving practice beneficial to our physical and spiritual health is universal and timeless
