"Ru Yi", a Chinese phrase meaning: "as the heart/mind wishes" shares the name of an ancient object shaped like a short scepter.  It is made of precious materials decorated with gem stones. It is placed in the setting of Mani, one of the Seven Jewels shedding a brilliant light on all surrounding objects. The ancient Chinese used it for pointing the way and for protection. It is often given as a gift to for wellness and prosperity of the recipient.
"Ru Yi" Studio found its home in 1997 in the high desert of Northern New Mexico where sacred mountains and forests embrace the Rio Grande and native Pueblo land. In this enchanted setting, "Ru Yi" Studio offers unique exhibits, workshops and classes with emphasis on multicultural studies to nurture artistic creativity and promote traditional healing practices that are beneficial in today's lifestyles.

Message from Pearl Huang, Founder of Ru Yi Studio

My goal as an artist is to maintain a balanced living practice. Growing up in China, I was fortunate to have received a bi-lingual and multicultural education.  I have pursued the east/west synthesis studies all my life.
At "Ru Yi" Studio I would like to share my heritage and invite you to join me to create unique and interesting learning experiences together. There is an old Chinese saying:  "When the teacher is ready, students appear; when the student is ready, teachers appear".
Along life's journey, there can be no dividing line between teacher and student.  Ru Yi Studio hopes to offer a place for us to come together as students, and perhaps teachers.  May the harmonious energy of all arts and cultures enhance our spirit and enrich our heart/mind.
